The Volunteer Exchange Program recruits volunteers for non-profit, health services and governmental agencies. Volunteers are recruited through public service announcements featured in newspaper, local community event announcements on television, and in corporate and school newsletters and bulletin boards.
Volunteers range from pre-school through their sixties. They provide services to schools, public libraries, animal shelters, convalescent homes, museums, youth and teen programs, senior centers, drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs and environmental conservation programs, as well as many others too numerous to list. The Volunteer Center of Kern County has several programs and new projects to impact our community by addressing many issues relevant to Kern County and it’s diverse population. Please contact us to obtain more information. The Bakersfield Californian features the Volunteer Center each Sunday through "Getting Involved" in the Eye Street section. Some current programs taking part in the Volunteer Exchange Program are:
